Gareth Edwards Tapped to Direct Next ‘Jurassic World’ Movie

Gareth Edwards is taking a visit to Jurassic World.

Per Deadline, Edwards is in final negotiations to direct Jurassic World 4 (or Jurassic Park 7) for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. The deal comes after talks fell apart with David Leitch earlier this month.

Edwards is best known for directing 2014’s Godzilla, 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and 2023’s The Creator. So yeah, he’s got experience when it comes to helming high-profile tentpoles.

Producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall were apparently impressed with Edwards after meeting with him last week, leading to an offer. Once Edwards signs on, production is expected to ramp up as Universal has already dated the picture for July 2, 2025. David Koepp penned the script.

We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
