Hasbro Closes $3.8 Billion Entertainment One Takeover

THR reported that on Monday Hasbro acquired Canadian indie studio Entertainment One in a merger deal worth $3.8 billion.

THR states “under the terms of the deal, eOne shareholders received $6.80 in cash for each common share, with eOne CEO Darren Throop reporting to Goldner. Stock in eOne on Monday was suspended on the London Stock Exchange as the takeover neared a conclusion.”

In a statement, Brian Goldner, Hasbro chairman and CEO, said:

“We are excited about what we can do together and see tremendous opportunity for shareholder value creation through this acquisition.”

The deal moves eOne series like Peppa Pig and PJ Masks under the Hasbro banner which will no doubt churn out new toy merchandise.

eOne will also serve as a production arm for Hasbro. I can see eOne and Allspark (Hasbro’s film studio) working on future films and series in the future.

What do you think of the merger? Is it time Peppa Pig graced the big screen in her own feature adventure?
