Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 is often criticized for its overstuffed plot and juggling multiple villains. Also, many fans found the infamous “emo Peter Parker” dance scene jarring. Others claim the backlash is unwarranted as the film still captures the heart of Raimi’s trilogy with its focus on Peter’s moral struggles and relationships, delivering emotionally resonant moments like Sandman’s origin and MJ’s heartbreak. The ambition to weave complex character arcs and comic book lore, while flawed, showcases Raimi’s passion for the source material, and its visual effects were groundbreaking for their time.

Does the hate feel exaggerated, especially fueled by comparisons to the near-perfect Spider-Man 2, rather than appreciating Spider-Man 3’s earnest spectacle? Or is it justified for being an overstuffed mess not on par with the first two entries?
