‘Lanterns’ Mid-Season Trailer: The Blackest Night Is Yet to Come

HBO Max has released a mid-season trailer for the final three episodes of Lanterns. Let’s take a look.

This past Sunday’s episode concluded the 2016 storyline, with the action now officially moving into 2026. Nathan Fillion returns as the current Green Lantern of Earth, Guy Gardner, while the trailer dives more into Hal Jordan’s death seen at the close of Episode 1.

Frankly, I’m not buying that he’s dead. I feel like the trailer is really pushing that development in a way that feels like it’s a misdirect. I know there have been some complaints about a lack of Green Lantern VFX in the show, but I’m loving it.

Plot Synopsis:

Based on the DC comic characters from Green Lantern, the series follows two intergalactic cops — new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) — who are drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

New episodes of Lanterns air Sundays on HBO and HBO Max.
