Netflix has released an official trailer for Malcolm & Marie. The film stars Zendaya and John David Washington. It was one of the first films that began production after shooting was able to resume during the pandemic (at least, if my memory serves correctly).
Oh yeah, this could be an awards contender at this year’s Oscars. I’m digging the black-and-white over color, and the performances look great. It will be interesting to see just how much tension Zendaya and Washington are able to whip up using one location (which was how the film was able to shoot during the early days of the pandemic).
Plot Synopsis:
Writer/Director Sam Levinson teams up with Zendaya and John David Washington for an achingly romantic drama in which a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what’s sure to be imminent critical and financial success. The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.
Malcolm & Marie begins streaming February 5, 2021 on Netflix.
