‘Mank’ Trailer: David Fincher Dramatizes Who Wrote ‘Citizen Kane’

Netflix has released an official teaser trailer for Mank, the story of Herman J. Mankiewicz, the screenwriter who wrote the screenplay for Citizen Kane. Check out the official teaser and the Reddit teaser below.

I’ll openly admit that I do not think Citizen Kane is a good film, but dammit do I want to see Mank. Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors, and I’ve always been fascinated with behind-the-scenes tales of films.

Plus, I thought it was pretty cool how they made the teaser look like it was actually from the 1930s. It’s those little details that I appreciate. I have no interest in ever revisiting Citizen Kane, but I will definitely visit the making of the film this December.

Plot Synopsis:

1930s Hollywood is re-evaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane for Orson Welles.

Mank hits select theaters in November before streaming exclusively on Netflix December 4, 2020.
