Marvel Television is on the way out.
The division will be absorbed by Marvel Studios in the near future, and a number of layoffs are expected. Karim Zreik, senior vice president of current programming and production, and members of his team will now join the Marvel Studios group. Zreik will lead the current projects in production. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb will remain with the division during the transition.
This isn’t entirely surprising as we previously reported this news back when it was a rumor.
No new shows will enter development. The remaining shows currently in the works from Marvel TV are:
- Helstrom at Hulu
- Howard the Duck, Hit Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler, M.O.D.O.K., and The Offenders at Hulu
- The Runaways season 3 at Hulu
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 7 at ABC
Marvel Studios has a number of limited series in the works for Disney+. If I was to speculate, I would say that any future television series (live-action, not animated) would likely follow the current method Marvel is using for its upcoming MCU shows.
Are you sad to see Marvel TV go? Or are you happy that things will finally be #ItsAllConnected?
