‘Moonfall’ Trailer: Roland Emmerich Won’t Rest Until He Destroys the World One More Time

Lionsgate has released an official teaser trailer for Moonfall, the latest disaster movie from director Roland Emmerich. Let’s take a look.

It’s clear after watching the teaser trailer for Moonfall that Alfred Pennyworth was referring to people like Emmerch when he said, “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

Emmerch clearly loves his disaster movies though since Moonfall is just the latest in a long line that are all over the place in terms of quality. I have no clue where Moonfall will rank, but I expect it to be not as good as Independence Day, better than Godzilla, and then somewhere beside The Day After Tomorrow and 2012.

The trailer paints Moonfall as cheesy and terrible, but I hope the cast will deliver. I have to pray that Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson aren’t just cashing paychecks and will give us the best of their abilities.

Plot Synopsis:

In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley) believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

Moonfall hits theaters February 4, 2022.
