Marvel Studios has released an official trailer for Ms. Marvel, the next superhero to hit Disney+ after Moon Knight releases at the end of this month. They say the future is in her hands. Let’s take a look and see if they’re right.
Okay, this doesn’t look too bad. I hope the coming-of-age cartoon-like animations work into the story naturally and don’t seem too out of place.
I’m no comics expert, but it looks like the MCU is switching up Kamala Khan’s powers in her upcoming series. She doesn’t seem to be an inhuman (at least not yet), so her powers seem to come from some mystical bracelet. Her powers are also different (cosmic energy instead of shapeshifting?). Not sure why Marvel did that, but maybe they just really hate the Inhumans. *shoulder shrug*
Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. The cast also includes Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
Plot Synopsis:
Ms. Marvel is a new series that introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right?
Ms. Marvel begins streaming June 8, 2022 on Disney+.
