New ‘Cruella’ Trailer

Disney has released a new official trailer for Cruella, an upcoming film diving into the origin story of Cruella De Vil, one of Disney’s most villainous characters to ever grace the screen.

I really do not know what to make of this. I like Emma Stone, but nothing in this trailer (or the last one) has really made me interested in seeing this.

I’ll probably watch it when it hits Disney+ for free (I ain’t paying $30 for Premier Access for this, Disney!), but then again, who am I kidding? I still haven’t seen Maleficent and both of those films are currently streaming on Disney.

Just stop trying to turn your villains into troubled, misunderstood anti-heroes, Disney. We liked them the way they were.

Oh, but if you make a sequel that is a proper adaptation of 101 Dalmatians can you cast Keanu Reeves as Roger? That way, you can make a John Wick joke about a woman stealing his puppies to kill and turn into a fur coat! (I’ll let myself out.)

Plot Synopsis:

Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”). But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

Cruella hits theaters and Disney+ Premier Access on May 28, 2021.
