One Choice: 2000s Dystopian Movies

Inspired by the popular online game that asks people to choose one movie from a group of four, One Choice… is pretty much the same game. Readers will be given four similar movies and asked to choose one. Now here’s the catch, the other three movies will be gone forever, wiped from your brain as if they never existed. Are you ready to theoretically live in a world where you have The Empire Strikes Back but not Star Wars or Return of the Jedi? What about the 1989 Batman movie but not Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight? The choice is yours, screenager, so choose wisely.

It is 2000s month, so we’ll once again be tackling different genres and categories from this decade of film. First up, dystopian movies. Good luck.

Here are the 4 Movies:

Children of Men (2006)

Cast: Julianne Moore, Clive Owen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor

Synopsis: In 2027, in a chaotic world in which women have somehow become infertile, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea.

I Am Legend (2007)

Cast: Will Smith, Alice Braga, and Charlie Tahan

Synopsis: Years after a plague kills most of humanity and transforms the rest into monsters, the sole survivor in New York City struggles valiantly to find a cure.

WALL·E (2008)

Cast: Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, and Jeff Garlin

Synopsis: In the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.

The Road (2009)

Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, and Kodi Smit-McPhee

Synopsis: In a dangerous post-apocalyptic world, an ailing father defends his son as they slowly travel to the sea.

So, will it be Children of Men, I Am Legend, WALL·E, or The Road? It’s time to choose. What will be your One Choice?
