One Choice: ’80s Horror Movies

Inspired by the popular online game that asks people to choose one movie from a group of four, One Choice… is pretty much the same game. Readers will be given four similar movies and asked to choose one. Now here’s the catch, the other three movies will be gone forever, wiped from your brain as if they never existed. Are you ready to theoretically live in a world where you have The Empire Strikes Back but not Star Wars or Return of the Jedi? What about the 1989 Batman movie but not Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight? The choice is yours, screenager, so choose wisely.

’80s month continues at ScreenAge Wasteland. The decade added a lot of classics to the horror genre, so it was tough to weed it down to four. But this is what I have come up with.

Here are the 4 Movies:

The Evil Dead (1981)

Cast: Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, and Richard DeManincor

Synopsis: Five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.

The Thing (1982)

Cast: Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, and Keith David

Synopsis: A research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.

Poltergeist (1982)

Cast: JoBeth Williams, Heather O’Rourke, and Craig T. Nelson

Synopsis: A family’s home is haunted by a host of demonic ghosts.

Prince of Darkness (1987)

Cast: Donald Pleasence, Lisa Blount, and Jameson Parker

Synopsis: A group of graduate students and scientists uncover an ancient canister in an abandoned church, but when they open the container, they inadvertently unleash a strange liquid and an evil force on all humanity.

So, will it be The Evil Dead, The Thing, Poltergeist, or Prince of Darkness? It’s time to choose. What will be your One Choice?
