‘Pennyworth’ Official Trailer

The official trailer for Pennyworth, starring Jack Bannon as a young Alfred Pennyworth in 1960s London, has been released.

If you would have asked Batman fans before Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins if Alfred Pennyworth’s past consisted of being a James Bond wannabe, they would have laughed you out of Comic-Con. However, between Michael Caine and Sean Pertwee’s portrayals of the character, Alfred has gotten a lot more badass.

It’ll be interesting to see Bruce Wayne’s parents fleshed out a little bit more, since I’ve only ever seen them riddled with bullets (too much?). I am getting a First Avenger Howard Stark vibe from Thomas Wayne which could be fun. And even though I joked that Alfred is looking like a James Bond wannabe, I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t watch Pennyworth just for that.

Plot Synopsis:

From Warner Horizon Scripted Television, DC origin story Pennyworth is a ten-episode, one-hour drama series based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960s London.

Pennyworth debuts July 28, 2019 on Epix.

What do you guys think? Interested in seeing this at all? Do any of you own Epix (I guess it’s available through Amazon Prime)?
