‘Fast & Furious: Spy Racers’ Teaser Trailer: The Franchise Goes Animated

Did I miss the memo that announced Universal was turning all its franchises into animated series for Netflix? First it was Jurassic World and now Fast & Furious is getting the treatment.

Alright, well that was the definition of a teaser. Besides the synopsis below, we have no idea if this will connect into the larger Fast & Furious universe. I will give props to DreamWorks for the impressive realistic animation. Was not expecting that at all.

That said, I’m only into Fast & Furious for the core franchise family. Without Diesel, Gibson, Rodriguez, etc. I have no interest in watching a Fast & Furious property (Hobbs & Shaw is tip-toeing the border as is). Plus, this will probably be more PG than PG-13, so I’ll tell my cousins about it, but that’s it.

Plot Synopsis:

The series centers on teenager Tony Toretto, who follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency. The suits task Tony and his crew with infiltrating an elite racing league that serves as a front for a crime organization hellbent on world domination. Tim Hedrick (Voltron: Legendary Defender) and Bret Haaland (All Hail King Julien) are the series’ showrunners and will executive produce alongside Vin Diesel and Chris Morgan.

Fast & Furious: Spy Racers is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2019.

What do you guys think? Interested in seeing the Fast & Furious franchise race into animation without Dominic Toretto leading the pack?
