HBO has released the official teaser for Perry Mason, a new take on the 1950s TV series. The limited series stars Matthew Rhys as the popular character in an origin story set in 1931 Los Angeles.
I have been following this project since Robert Downey Jr. was attached to star as Perry Mason (RDJ remains an executive producer on the show). However, I think Rhys will own this role. I liked him in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and I definitely like what I’m seeing in this trailer. The choice to set this in 1930s L.A. is an interesting decision, but one I think will work. I’m hoping for some good old private investigating, so don’t disappoint Perry Mason!
In addition to Rhys, Perry Mason stars John Lithgow, Tatiana Maslany, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard, Eric Lange, and Robert Patrick.
Plot Synopsis:
Perry Mason premieres June 21, 2020 on HBO.
