Power Rankings: Movies You Wish You Could Have Experienced in the Theater

The SAW Power Rankings is our weekly ranking of a certain movie-related topic. Please feel free to comment on our rankings and provide a list of your own in the comments below.

With movie theaters opening back up and the showing of some “classic” films because of the lack of new release, we thought it would be fun to rank some movies we would have loved to have experienced in front of the big screen during its initial release. Some we just weren’t alive yet, too young to see or some we just missed out on while in theaters. Jaws seems to be the winner for showing up on four of our lists down below.

For me, the biggest one I would have loved to experience is 1974’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The violence and gore for that time would have been amazing witness first had along with the reactions during the original release. NOTLD and Jaws would have been fun as well for the same reasons. Stalker is just one that I recently wrote about for our sci-fi list (start the list here to see where it lands in our top 100) that I would have loved to watch in a theater with the big screen and sound system. I can not imagine how much it would enhance the already engaging experience. John Wick is probably the biggest whiff I have had in the past 20 years for a movie I didn’t go see in theaters and wish I had. It just seemed like one of those, “I’ll just wait to rent” movies and I was wrong. It was really tough to just limit to only five films.

Let us know which movies you would have loved to experience during its original theatrical run and why down in the comments!
