Reading Time: < 1 minute

American actor Gene Hackman has died at the age of 95.

On Wednesday afternoon, he and his wife, Betsy Arakawa (64), as well as their pet dog, were found dead in their home in Sante Fe, New Mexico. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office does not suspect foul play. While an exact cause of death has not been shared yet by officials, it is believed that the couple succumbed to environmental factors, such as carbon monoxide poisoning or an undetected gas leak.

Hackman was the recipient of two Academy Awards, winning for Best Actor for his role as Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in The French Connection (1971) and for Best Supporting Actor for his role as a villainous Sheriff in Unforgiven (1992). He was also known for his portrayal of Lex Luthor in Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980).

Let’s pay our respects to Gene Hackman by sharing some of our favorite scenes, movies, etc. from his extensive filmography. Rest in Peace.
