MGM has just released the first The Addams Family trailer and honestly, I do not know who this trailer is trying to appeal to. Take a look for yourself.
Despite boasting a voice cast that would rival any Disney or Pixar film (Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, and Bette Midler), this film is far from the storytelling capabilities Disney/Pixar is capable of accomplishing.
There are a couple solid jokes (New Jersey and the Pennywise reference), but otherwise this just looks like childish buffoonery. I’ve never seen any previous Addams Family media, so maybe that’s what they are all about. But this just isn’t for me.
