UPDATE: 20th Century Studios has nabbed The Barrier, with the sale coming in around the seven-figure range. Our original story from Nov. 26, 2024, follows.
Austin Butler‘s star power isn’t dying down anytime soon.
According to Deadline, the actor — who appeared earlier this year in Dune: Part Two and The Bikeriders — has teamed with All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave director Edward Berger for The Barrier. The time travel movie is based on a short story by MacMillan Hedges, who is adapting his own story for the screen. Sources have told Deadline that the movie is a cross between Interstellar and Top Gun.
Berger will direct and produce The Barrier, while Butler will star and executive produce. Hedges is also attached as a producer. The package is currently on the market and is expected to have no trouble landing a studio.
We’ll keep you posted.
