Well, do you want the good news or the bad news first about The Batman Part II?
The good news is that Matt Reeves dropped a camera test on Vimeo for the DC sequel, which basically serves as its first teaser trailer. The bad news is that the camera test ends by revealing that Part II has been delayed for the FOURTH time.
Apparently, Warner Bros. would rather release J.J. Abrams’ new sci-fi fantasy movie, The Great Beyond, on October 1, 2027, instead of The Batman Part II. So, screenagers, we now have to wait until February 18, 2028, for the long-awaited sequel to 2022’s The Batman.
The camera test features Robert Pattinson as Batman, and yes, those are longer ears on the batsuit. “You are not crazy,” Reeves told a fan who pointed it out on X.
Plot details remain under wraps for Part II, although we do know who is starring in the sequel. Jeffrey Wright is back as Jim Gordon, as are Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD officer Martinez.
Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry have all been cast in undisclosed roles. While initial reports indicated that Stan was playing Harvey Dent / Two-Face, with Johansson as his wife Gilda and Dance as his father Charles, that may no longer be true.
Trusted insider Jeff Sneider claims that Stan is actually playing Victor Zsasz. Johansson may also be playing a more grounded take on Poison Ivy, while Dance will be the leader of the Court of Owls. Of course, none of this has been confirmed (or debunked), so believe what you want to right now.
Filming is currently underway on The Batman Part II, ahead of its (weep) February 18, 2028, release date.
