‘The Electrical Life of Louis Wain’ Trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch Paints Cats

Prime Video has released an official trailer for The Electrical Life of Louis Wan, an upcoming biographical film about eccentric British artist Louis Wain (Benedict Cumberbatch). Let’s take a look.

I’m liking what I’m seeing here. The film looks to be a more lighthearted biopic as opposed to a straight forward drama. There are moments of humor throughout the trailer, particularly between Cumberbatch and Claire Foy. I will definitely be seeing this when it hits Prime Video.

In addition to Cumberbatch and Foy, the film stars Taika Waititi, Sophia Di Martino, Toby Jones, Andrea Riseborough, Aimee Lou Wood, and Olivia Colman.

Plot Synopsis:

The extraordinary true story of eccentric British artist Louis Wain (Benedict Cumberbatch), whose playful, sometimes even psychedelic pictures helped to transform the public’s perception of cats forever. Moving from the late 1800s through to the 1930s, we follow the incredible adventures of this inspiring, unsung hero, as he seeks to unlock the “electrical” mysteries of the world and, in so doing, to better understand his own life and the profound love he shared with his wife Emily Richardson (Claire Foy).

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain hits theaters October 22, 2021. It begins streaming on Prime Video on November 5, 2021.
