Eddie Murphy Signs Three-Movie Deal With Amazon Studios

Amazon Studios has recently announced that it has officially closed a three-picture and first-look film deal with Eddie Murphy.

Under the deal, Murphy will star in three films for Amazon Studios. He will also develop additional projects for Prime Video that he may or may not star in himself.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said this about the deal:

“Eddie is a legend both in front of and behind the camera. With undeniable comedic and dramatic genius, he consistently delivers entertaining, original stories and characters to audiences around the world. We could not be more excited to help carry on the tradition and to officially welcome Eddie into the Amazon family.”

The deal came together after Coming 2 America, the long-awaited sequel to Murphy ’80s classic Coming to America, premiered on Prime Video earlier this year. It was apparently a huge success for Amazon, which is what led to this new partnership.

However, don’t expect to only see Murphy’s face on Prime Video over the next few years. Murphy is still slated to star in an upcoming Netflix comedy with Jonah Hill. A fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie is also in development at Netflix.

What do you think about Eddie Murphy making movies for Amazon? Do you think this means a Coming to America 3 will be greenlit?
