
The Mummy 4 is officially a go at Universal.
Per Deadline, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have closed deals to return as Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan, respectively, in Universal’s untitled Mummy 4. The studio has additionally set a May 19, 2028, release date for the long-awaited sequel. There are currently no other wide entries booked on that date.
Announced in November 2025, The Mummy 4 will be directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream VI) will direct from a script by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan films, The Deliverance). Franchise veteran Sean Daniel is returning to produce alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.
Story details remain under wraps at this time, meaning it’s unknown yet whether the Weisz-less The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor will be be stricken from canon or not. Maria Bello played Evelyn in the 2008 film.
