‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2’ Gets First Teaser & Official Title

Illumination has released an official title announcement teaser trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, or should I say, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Yup, that’s the official title for the animated sequel. Check out the 51-second teaser below that features a snoozing Mario and the arrival of a Luma.

The returning voice cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was also announced today by Nintendo and Illumination. Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson will be back as the voices of Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Toad, and Kamek, respectively.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros., and follows The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was released in 2023 and earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide. The upcoming sequel will be produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by returning filmmakers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, from a screenplay by returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel, with Brian Tyler returning to compose the score.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be distributed in theaters by Universal on April 3, 2026.
