‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’ Teaser Trailer: Coming-of-Age in the Zombie Apocalypse

AMC has officially titled the third Walking Dead series World Beyond and released the season 1 teaser.

This looks like a welcome change of pace for The Walking Dead franchise. A lot of criticism for the two current series is that with each new season there seems to be less zombies and more human drama. World Beyond looks to move past zombies and show what the world would look like when humans finally got their shit together again.

Having its cast filled with teenagers who have never even seen zombies is an interesting move. There’s almost a utopian/dystopian feel to the trailer where on the inside everything is okay, but on the outside it’s still an area that you do not want to step into.

It will be interesting to see how the series ties to the greater Walking Dead world over time.

The cast includes Temple Grandin as Julia Ormond, Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Aliya Royale as Iris, Nico Tortorella as Felix, and Joe Holt as Leo Bennett.

Plot Synopsis:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will serve as the third show of the television franchise, following The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. According to AMC, the series will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse. Some will become heroes, some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is expected to premiere Spring 2020 on AMC.
