Sophia Di Martino Joins the ‘Loki’ Disney+ Series

Sophia Di Martino (Flowers, Yesterday) is set to co-star opposite Tom Hiddleston in the Disney+ series Loki, reports Deadline.

We’re not sure who Di Martino might be playing, but rumors have her pegged as the female version of Loki. Loki is the God of Mischief and has been known to shapeshift in previous films (most notably Captain America). In the Marvel Comics, he has been portrayed as female while the Marvel Press YA novel Loki: Where Mischief Lies presented the character as pansexual and gender-fluid.

If Di Martino shares the role of Loki that might be a way for Hiddleston to teach her the ways of Loki before hanging up the horns. Then Di Martino can continue as female Loki for the MCU’s future.

Other sources have her pegged as playing the Enchantress. I guess we’ll have to wait and see which one is true.

The series will be part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will follow the version of Loki that was seen escaping with the Tesseract during the 2012 time heist in Avengers: Endgame. Kevin Feige has also confirmed that Loki will tie into WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Kate Herron directs the series while Michael Waldron serves as head writer. Loki is slated to premiere in 2021 on Disney+.
