‘Twilight’ TV Series in the Works

Here we go again.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate Television is in early development on a series adaptation of author Stephenie Meyer‘s best-selling The Twilight Saga book series.

Sinead Daly, whose credits include The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Raised by Wolves, and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, is attached to write the script for Twilight. Apparently, Daly is working with Lionsgate TV to determine whether the series should be a straight remake of Meyer’s books or some sort of spinoff. No network or streaming platform is attached at this time. Meyer is expected to be involved in the television adaptation.

Lionsgate sure was quick to announce a Twilight series after Warner Bros. unveiled plans for a Harry Potter TV series, right? Like damn, Hollywood just can’t let franchises rest anymore. “If they’re lying dormant, they’re not making us money” – every studio CEO.

The film version of The Twilight Saga was released during a time when YA adaptations were all the rage. The five-film franchise, which starred Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, collectively grossed more than $3.4 billion worldwide. So yeah, Lionsgate is desperate to start making that kind of money again.

We’ll keep you posted as more information on this new Twilight project becomes available.
