‘Vivo’ Trailer: A Capuchin Monkey Wants to Be a Star

Netflix has released an official trailer for Vivo, the latest animated film from Sony Pictures Animation. Let’s take a look.

2021 sure is shaping up to be the year of Lin-Manuel Miranda. First he had In the Heights, now Vivo where he voices the titular character and wrote the songs for the animated musical, and then later this year he makes his directorial debut with tick, tick… BOOM!.

I doubt I’ll actually end up watching this, but since it’s on Netflix I guess never say never.

The film also stars Gloria Estefan, Juan De Marco, Ynairaly Simo, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Brian Tyree Henry, Nicole Byer, Leslie David Baker, Katie Lowes, Olivia Trujillo, and Lidya Jewett.

Plot Synopsis:

A one-of-kind kinkajou (voiced by Lin-Manuel Miranda), embarks on an unforgettable, musical adventure to deliver a love song to Marta (voiced by Gloria Estefan) on behalf of his owner Andrés (Buena Vista Social Club’s Juan De Marcos).

Vivo begins streaming August 6, 2021 on Netflix.
