WHAT I WATCHED THIS WEEK
Sugar (2024) – What looks like just another modern day neo-noir private investigator series turns out to be just that… but with a twist. Colin Ferrell is charismatic as the titular character and the missing girl mystery unfolds in standard fair. But pay close attention to some minor details because there’s more to it than you think. I’m really hoping AppleTV gives it a season two. 4/5
QT8: The First Eight (2019) – A great little doc about… you guessed it Quentin Tarantino’s first 8 films. It stars a ton ton of the actors in those films all talking about their experiences and thoughts on QT. It’s really entertaining. 4.5/5
The Ninth Gate (2000) – Johnny Depp stars as a dealer of rare books who is tasked with authenticating a 17th-century book that can supposedly summon the Devil. Overall its pretty good, until the last 20 minutes or so, then it just seems to fall apart. 3/5
