WHAT I WATCHED THIS WEEK…

Phantoms (1998) Only saw this once back in the day, so I figured what the hell, right? It’s not a bad movie per say, but it’s also nothing mind-blowing. It’s basically a second rate The Thing. But, that being said it is an entertaining watch. And its way better than Dreamcatcher from a few years later. 3/5

The Spanish Prisoner (1997) A slow paced neo-noir suspense film, written and directed by David Mamet. Sure it’s a bit slow and the dialogue kinda seems forced / clunky at times, but the story is pretty intriguing. Campbell Scott invents a “process” for a company that will make them rich. While on a company retreat he befriends Steve Martin, another guest on the island they are staying on. Then things start getting weird. It’s a solid film that keeps you guessing. 3.75/5

Poker Face (2023) – I’m still watching it, but I’m less enthused by the show as each episode goes on. It’s an average at best mystery of the week. Hopefully the overarching story from the first episode fulfills things a bit. 3/5
