WHAT I WATCHED THIS WEEK
Meteor (1979) – An ok-ish 70s disaster movie. Armageddon and Deep Impact took some beats from this one for sure. It stars Sean Connery and a former NASA scientist sucked back into things because a giant meteor is headed towards earth. His job is to get the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. to combine their nuclear forces to destroy it. 2.75/5
The Name of the Rose (1986) – Basically if Sherlock Holmes was a monk. I mean hell, his name is even Brother William of Baskerville. And he says “elementary” in the film too. I never read the book, but I wonder if that was in there too. It’s slow paced but a decent film. 3.5/5
DragonHeart (1996) – So it basically turned into a Sean Connery kinda week. This one was a bit of a train wreck. I mean, in this day and age with the DnD film and mixing fantasy and humor so well, this one almost feels like it wasn’t actually trying to be funny but was. Amazingly the dragon SFX looked pretty good. 1.25/5
