Which DC Characters Should Get an R-Rated DCU Movie?

Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.

Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.

While speaking recently with Collider, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn revealed that there is “more than one” DC Universe project that is close to being greenlit which may be R-rated. Explaining his approach on which projects deserve which MPA ratings, Gunn said:

“It’s not about testing out to see if this thing works. It’s just about telling a story. If a story is going to be R-rated, we’re totally okay with that. If it’s going to be PG, PG-13, or G, I don’t care — whatever is worthy of the story, that’s what we’re going to do.”

With that out of the way, the question I ask today is: which DC characters or comics do you want to see Gunn (and DC Studios) adapt into an R-rated movie?

I mean, Deathstroke immediately comes to mind, as does any future Suicide Squad movie. Justice League Dark, or any of its characters like Swamp Thing and John Constantine, would certainly work with an R-rating. Plastic Man R-rated superhero comedy with John Mulaney though… I mean, take my money now!

So what about you, screenagers? Which DC heroes deserve an R-rated movie?

I’ll see you in the trenches.
