‘Wonder Woman 3’ Still Dead Despite Gal Gadot’s Recent Comments

Yikes! I’d hate to be Gal Gadot or DC Studios right about now.

Despite Gadot recently stating that Wonder Woman 3 had not been scrapped at DC, sources have told Variety that the project has in fact not been revived. So what happened?

Well, Gadot recently remarked that what she had “heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.” In a separate interview, she added that the DC heads had told her that they “love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.” So, and I’m speculating here, there’s a chance that James Gunn and Peter Safran want to keep Gadot around as Wonder Woman, but aren’t interested in having her headline another solo film. It’d be a strange thing to do, but then again, we are talking about DC.

At this time, the only Wonder Woman-related project in development for the DC Universe is Paradise Lost, an upcoming “Game of Thrones-type story about Themyscira” that takes place before the birth of Diana/Wonder Woman.

Gadot first appeared as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) before reprising the role in Wonder Woman (2017), Justice League (2017 & 2021 Snyder Cut), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023) and, most recently, The Flash (2023).

Wonder Woman 3 was in the works under the old DC Films regime, with Patty Jenkins slated to return as director, but was scrapped after Gunn and Safran took over.

Are you sad to hear that Wonder Woman 3 isn’t actually in the works? Do you want Gunn to keep Gadot as Wonder Woman in the DCU? Would that be strange? Tell us in the comments!
