‘Wonka’ Trailer: Timothée Chalamet Is a Young Willy Wonka

Warner Bros. has released an official trailer for Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet in the title role. Let’s take a look.

This looks like it could be good. I’m getting some Barbie vibes. Can you imagine if Barbie and Wonka end up being Warner Bros.’ most successful films of 2023 and not The Flash? (Okay, there’s also Dune: Part Two.)

Starring alongside Chalamet are Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Olivia Colman, Natasha Rothwell, Rich Fulcher, Rakhee Thakrar, Tom Davis, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.

Paul King, writer/director of the live-action/CG Paddington films, directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Simon Farnaby (Paddington 2), based on a story by King and characters created by Roald Dahl.

Plot Synopsis:

Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, Wonka tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.

Wonka opens in theaters on December 15, 2023.
