‘X-Men’ Reboot Eyes Kit Connor for MCU Cyclops

It’s been a busy few weeks for Marvel Studios‘ X-Men reboot.

A week after Samara Weaving was cast as Emma FrostDeadline is reporting that Kit Connor is the top choice to play Scott Summers / Cyclops in the X-Men movie. He’s best known for his roles in Netflix’s Heartstopper and Alex Garland’s Warfare.

Similar to Weaving, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and X-Men director Jake Schreier met with many actors before landing on Connor for the role. Cooper Hoffman was another actor who was believed to have met with Marvel about playing the mutant superhero.

Connor will become the third main actor to portray Cyclops in a live-action X-Men movie. James Marsden portrayed the X-Men leader in the original X-Men trilogy and Days of Future Past. He will return in the role one last time in this December’s Avengers: Doomsday. Tye Sheridan played him in the prequel-era X-Men movies.

Cyclops is now the fourth X-Men character to be cast for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spoilers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but that MCU movie introduced Tramell Tillman as William “Bill” Metzger, a minor X-Men villain from the comics who was the head of the Anti-Mutant Militia before being killed by Magneto.

Oh, and Sadie Sink was shockingly (please read sarcastically) revealed as Jean Grey. So yeah, Sadie Sink and Kit Connor are the MCU’s Jean Grey and Cyclops. What do you think about that, screenagers?
