And just like that, Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot has cast its first actor.
According to Deadline, Ready or Not star Samara Weaving has successfully landed the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming X-Men movie. Apparently, Weaver’s audition was too hard to beat, with director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige believing her to be the perfect actor for the role.
Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, Emma Frost is a telepathic Mutant who first appeared as a supervillain in The Uncanny X-Men #129 in 1980. However, she has since evolved into hero, working with the X-Men. The character is known for being able to shapeshift into an organic diamond form.
Emma Frost has only appeared once in live-action. January Jones played her in X-Men: First Class.
X-Men is expected to be one of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe franchises post-Secret Wars. Many expect Marvel to announce the entire cast for the movie at the upcoming D23, which runs from August 14 through 16, 2026.
