Duke’s 100 Favorite Movies of All Time

Reading Time: 2 minutes

To celebrate our seventh anniversary, the ScreenAge Wasteland team is sharing individual lists of our 100 favorite films of all time. Explore the full collection here.

This was harder to put together than I originally thought it would be. I struggled quite a bit with my list after around the #50 mark, and that’s honestly because I haven’t rewatched many movies since January 2024. In fact, out of the 350 movies I’ve watched in that time, only 50 were rewatches.

And therein lies the problem I had compiling this list: a lot of movies I watched in the past couple of years, I really enjoyed. However, outside of maybe five exceptions, I didn’t put a lot of newer releases or watches on this list. There are a ton of movies I’ve watched recently that could one day be viewed as a favorite of mine, but I wasn’t going to throw Heat or Reservoir Dogs on here just because I really enjoyed my first watch of them.

Ultimately, what I decided to do was amalgamate my favorite movies from across my life. What you’ll see below are movies I have not seen in probably two decades, but at one point were getting rewatched multiple times a year. Movies I remember watching on the portable DVD player strapped to the back of the front passenger headrest on road trips time and time again. Movies that were must-watches at certain times of the year.

However, you’ll also find movies that, for a brief moment in time, meant everything to me. Movies where the protagonists faced struggles similar to those I was dealing with at the time in my life. There’s also a good heaping of movies on here that made it purely for the memories attached to that first movie-watching experience, more so than the quality of the picture itself.

And yes, there is a lot of Michael J. Fox on this list. Who’d have thunk it? So, without further ado, here are the 100 movies that mean a lot to Duke.
