Yesterday, Amazon announced the official title for its upcoming Lord of the Rings series. I think everyone, myself included, believed the announcement teaser was achieved using CGI. However, IGN has released a behind-the-scenes video showing how that wasn’t the case at all.

According to IGN, “the title sequence of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was not a CGI creation but rather achieved practically at a foundry using molten metals, reclaimed redwood, sparkler dust, argon pours, liquid hydrogen and more. Multiple pours of molten metal were shot with the Phantom Flex 4K camera until the creators got the exact effect they were looking for.”

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres September 2, 2022 on Prime Video.

Okay, that’s actually pretty cool. Did you think the title announcement teaser was CGI like I did when you first watched it? Are you excited for Amazon’s The Rings of Power?
