At last weekend’s annual DC FanDome event, fans were treated to behind the scenes looks at two of the most anticipated DC Extended Universe sequels currently in production.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are the sequels to Shazam! and Aquaman, two of the best films in the DCEU (in my opinion). I’m excited to take a look at these sneak peeks and see what the Shazam Family and Aquaman will be getting up to in their respective sequels.
Let’s take a look.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods
It looks like the sequel to Shazam! has grown bigger in terms of scope and budget. The new suit also looks pretty badass. We got a new first look at Black Adam during DC FanDome too which also looked awesome. Fingers crossed that both of these films set the stage for a Shazam! vs. Black Adam crossover film as the next entry in both franchises.
Asher Angel and Zachary Levi return as Billy Batson and his superhero alter ego Shazam. The rest of the cast for Shazam! Fury of the Gods includes Dame Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, D.J. Cotrona, Marta Milans, and Rachel Zegler.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods hits theaters on June 2, 2023.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
This looks like it will be more of the same which is definitely not a bad thing. The new Black Manta suit looks hella comic accurate. The concept art director James Wan teased also looks super cool. I’m all for another underwater fantasy-adventure film and it looks like Wan will be delivering those goods next year.
Jason Momoa returns as Arthur Curry / Aquaman. Joining him in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be Pilou Asbaek, Indya Moore, Vincent Regan, Jani Zhao, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren, Temuera Morrison, and Randall Park.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters on December 16, 2022.
