Paramount Pictures has just released a new trailer for The Rhythm Section their newest spy thriller.
Last fall we saw the first trailer for the film, but since then the release date was moved around a bit. It was originally slated for February 22, 2019 only to be moved to November 22, 2019 against Frozen II (oof) and now finally it is scheduled to be released in ten days.
This trailer sets its focus mostly on Blake Lively’s protagonist being trained by Jude Law’s mysterious Yon-Rogg-like figure. Hopefully he doesn’t have the same arc he did in Captain Marvel.
EON Productions only spent $50 million on the film, so it doesn’t have to make a billion to break even. Which is a good thing. It’s interesting to see a new spy thriller from EON, so close to the release of No Time to Die. It will be interesting to see how well this female led thriller does for them. Recently Bond franchise owners Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stated Bond will never be a woman. So instead of gender swapping known properties, let’s give the new stories their fair shake.
And make a sequel to Atomic Blonde too dammit!!
Plot Synopsis:
The Rhythm Section hits theaters January 31, 2020.
