‘The Rhythm Section’ Trailer: Blake Lively is Out for Revenge

Paramount has just released the first trailer for The Rhythm Section, an adaptation of Mark Burnell’s book of the same name, starring Blake Lively.

Okay, I’m in. Lively seems like an actress that isn’t afraid to jump across different genres in her career (similar to her co-star Jude Law). This film gives me some serious Atomic Blonde vibes, which can only be a good thing.

The Rhythm Section is the first in a series of novels centered on Stephanie Patrick, so there’s a chance Paramount and Lively could have a franchise on their hands. The January 2020 release date means that this could be a sleeper hit, or it means it will be overlooked in what is often called the worst month for theatrical releases.

Either way, I’m digging what I’ve seen so far, and Lively is one to watch, so Paramount has one ticket sold for next January.

Plot Synopsis:

Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick, an ordinary woman on a path of self-destruction after her family is tragically killed in a plane crash. When Stephanie discovers that the crash was not an accident, she enters a dark, complex world to seek revenge on those responsible and find her own redemption.

The Rhythm Section hits theaters January 31, 2020.
