Robert Eggers burst on the horror scene with 2015’s acclaimed The Witch, and has re-teamed with leading genre production company A24 to bring us The Lighthouse, a fantasy horror film that Eggers wrote and directed.
I am just digging everything about what is going on here. Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, The Florida Project) and Robert Pattison (Good Time, High Life and your soon to be Batman) seem to be playing off each other well and their dive into madness is, well, quite maddening to watch even in this small sample. After recently watching Hour of the Wolf by Ingmar Bergman, this seems reminiscent of those 50′ and 60’s Gothic horror films that played with the viewers minds to question their own sanity.
