Django/Zorro has been revived at Sony.

According to Deadline, the studio has set Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland (Mystic River, L.A. Confidential) to write Django/Zorro, which will bring together characters from Django Unchained and The Mask of Zorro. The project was previously in development before the pandemic killed it.

While based on the seven-issue crossover comic book series co-written by Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner and published by Dynamite Entertainment in 2024, Django/Zorro will tell a new story about the adventures of the slave-turned-bounty hunter played by Jamie Foxx and the legendary masked vigilante known as Zorro.

Tarantino will have no involvement in the movie, although he has reportedly given his blessing on the project. He is currently busy (maybe) developing his tenth and final film, which is expected to be made at Sony.

Are you surprised Sony is finally moving ahead with Django/Zorro? Who should play Zorro? Tell us down in the comments!
