Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.
Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.
We’re currently running our Best of 2021 series where each SAW writer talks about their five favorite films of last year. But what about TV? So many great shows premiered last year or had new critically acclaimed seasons debut. We don’t talk about TV and streaming shows much around these parts, but they deserve a mention (at least once a year).
So the question I ask today is: what was your favorite show of 2021?
Hawkeye.
I mean, could there have been another answer? Hawkeye is my favorite Avenger and I’ve been waiting for him to get a solo project in the MCU for what seems like a decade. Personally, I found the six-episode limited Disney+ series extremely entertaining and the best Marvel show Disney+ put out in 2021 (WandaVision and What If…? are close seconds).
Some honorable mentions would have to go to Physical (on Apple TV+), Invincible (Amazon Prime Video), Ted Lasso season 2 (Apple TV+), and the final season of F Is for Family (Netflix).
UPDATE: I cannot believe I forgot about Only Murders in the Building. That was definitely my second favorite show of 2021 behind Hawkeye.
But what about you, screenagers? What was your favorite show that released new episodes in 2021?
I’ll see you in the trenches.
