‘Freaks’ Trailer Makes You Wonder Who the Freaks Out There Really Are

A trailer for the psychological thriller Freaks has dropped and….well…expect not to know exactly where this is going. Enjoy!

The setup with Emile Hirsch generally looking like the subject of some terrible future nightly news story is not exactly how he appears; actually, the child abuse aspect was pretty jarring even in the trailer; but then all Hell breaks loose and honestly I have no idea what could possibly be happening here.

I feel the slightest hint of a Philip K. Dick story going on here but that’s all I can really add other than I’m freaking intrigued.

Directed by Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky (who previously co-helmed the Mech-X4 TV series), Freaks stars Hirsch (who stars in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as well as the criminally underreferenced The Autopsy of Jane Doe), Lexi Kolker (Shooter) and Bruce Dern (also having a recent role in Hollywood).

Plot Synopsis:

In this genre-bending psychological sci-fi thriller, a bold girl discovers a bizarre, threatening, and mysterious new world beyond her front door after she escapes her father’s protective and paranoid control.

Freaks will be released into the world on August 23rd 2019.
