Jason Momoa, who? Helldivers has found its new leading man, and his name is Alan Ritchson.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson is in talks to star in Sony‘s feature adaptation of the PlayStation video game Helldivers. If cast, he would replace Momoa, who was originally tapped to lead the movie but exited in early June over “creative differences”
Justin Lin is directing Helldivers. The movie adapts the 2015 game and its sequel, which center on Helldivers, a squad of elite shock troopers who must protect the fictional planet of Super Earth from attacking aliens. Chris Bremner wrote the most recent draft of the script.
Ritchson’s star has been on the rise ever since he debuted as Jack Reacher in Prime Video’s Reacher. He’ll return to the role in the upcoming fifth season, which is now in production. Audiences can also currently see him in theaters in the action comedy Runner with Owen Wilson.
Helldivers is scheduled to hit theaters on November 10, 2027.
