Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio‘s next movie has seemingly been revealed.
According to Publishers Weekly, Apple Original Films is set to adapt Marilynne Robinson’s Gilead novels, beginning with a feature film based on Home, the second novel in the series. No word yet on how Apple plans to proceed with adapting the other three books in the series.
Scorsese is attached to write and direct Home, in addition to producing alongside filmmaker Todd Field. DiCaprio is attached to star, although the exact role he will play remains undisclosed at this time. Field will produce alongside Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions, and LBI Entertainment. Home will be Scorsese and DiCaprio’s second movie for Apple, after 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
Robinson’s Gilead series focuses on faith and rural life in the fictional plains town of Gilead, Iowa. First published in 2008, Home chronicles the life of the Boughton family — Reverend Robert Boughton and his adult children Glory and Jack. It’s worth noting that Home is considered a companion to the first book in the series, Gilead (2004), taking place concurrently and examining some of the same events from a different angle.
Scorsese & DiCaprio Are Attached to Two Other High-Profile Movies
While Home is shaping up to be Scorsese and DiCaprio’s next feature together, the two do have two other projects in the works. The first is a film adaptation of Erik Larson‘s bestselling book Devil in the White City for 20th Century Studios. The second is an untitled drama film described as a Hawaii-set Goodfellas. Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson are attached to co-star alongside DiCaprio, with Johnson believed to be the lead of the movie.
We’ll keep you posted on all three Scorsese-DiCaprio movies.
