Hulu’s ‘Hellraiser’ Nails Down a New Pinhead

Deadline is reporting that Hulu’s Hellraiser reboot has named Jamie Clayton as Pinhead!

Clayton has starred in Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q and the Netflix show Sense8. Joining Clayton in Hellraiser will be actor Goran Visnjic. David Bruckner will direct from a script by screenwriters Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins.

David Goyer is set to produce. Wait… I’m missing someone. Oh, I forgot to say that Clive Barker (yes, THAT Clive Barker) will be producing as well!

Hellraiser was first introduced to filmgoers in 1987, based upon Clive Barker’s novel The Hellbound Heart. Barker would also write and direct the film which introduced the “puzzle box” that summons the Cenobites and hilarity sadomasochism ensues. The lead Cenobite, Pinhead- nicknamed such for the multiple nails in his skull, would be played by Doug Bradley until 2005. The film spawned multiple sequels and introduced younger me to the “Chatterer”, which terrifies me to this day. For a better review of Hellraiser and its sequel, our very own Artist Supreme Bob Cram posted a Double Shot review that you can check out here.

I have to say I’m genuinely looking forward to the gender flipping of Pinhead. I think Clayton could really crank up the “creep factor” as the lead Cenobite. Now don’t get me wrong, Doug Bradley was a great Pinhead; very creepy, very British. I think with the right script, this could be a milestone in horror films.

Hellraiser is set to premiere on Hulu in 2022.

Lets hammer out our thoughts on the new gender flipped Pinhead. How many puns can I use in this post, who knows?
