Amazon is currently developing a new series based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child. Potentially setting up another big franchise for the Prime Video platform. The project is in development with </SCORPION> creator Nick Santora set to adapt the books about a military veteran who become a drifter and acts as a freelance investigator taking odd jobs and getting involved in suspicious and frequently dangerous situations.
Amazon Studios will produce the series along with Skydance Television and Paramount Television similarly to Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, the other Amazon drama based on a best-selling series of novels.
Following the two movies starring Tom Cruise, 2012’s Jack Reacher and 2016’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Christopher McQuarrie, will serve as one of the executive producers on the Amazon project. I’m really excited to hear this, the first film was surprisingly good, and I should probably revisit the second one sometime soon.
Amazon is on a roll with shows based on a book series right now. Currently they have the previously mentioned Jack Ryan, Bosch based on Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch novels, as well as The Man in the High Castle based on the novel of the same name.
What do you think about Jack Reacher as a series, interested in it at all? Who do you think would be a good fit to play him?
