Keanu Reeves is in talks for what looks to be another great project for the actor’s post-John Wick career.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves is in negotiations to star opposite Don Lee in The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil, an upcoming reimagining of the 2019 Korean movie of the same name, at Paramount. Lee, also known as Ma Dong-seok, is reprising his role from the original movie as crime boss Jang Dong-su.
The crime actioner will be the next directorial effort from James Wan, who hasn’t helmed a feature since 2023’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Wan is also producing via his Blumhouse-Atomic Monster banner, alongside Michael Clear and Jason Blum.
Written and directed by Lee Won-tae, the original The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil tells of a police officer and a crime boss who reluctantly team up to track down a serial killer. With each having their own motives to capture the killer, double-crosses and cat-and-mouse games ensue, along with a heaping helping of police versus criminals and gang versus gang action.
Eric Pearson (Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps) wrote the latest script, based on previous drafts by Shay Hatten (Resident Evil) and Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential).
Reeves last starred in Apple TV’s Outcome. Up next for the actor is the Warner Bros. sci-fi flick Shiver, out next August, and The Entertainment System Is Down, from Ruben Östlund, which A24 will release stateside.
